Once a month our sanctuary is filled with the laughter and singing of children during our Family Sunday service. During this service the children and teens participate as greeters, ushers, lectors, musicians and choir members. We make a special effort to do something fun with the children like skits or hands on activities that inspires their faith. Often our music director writes hymns specifically for these special services.
St. Luke’s is a warm community with broad church approach to the weekly services. We offer a Rite II service at 8 a.m. which is a quieter service. The primary worship service is held at 10:15 a.m. Music is an integral part of this service and musical selections range from the traditional, using the 1982 Hymnal, Wonder, Love, and Praise (WLP), Lift Every Voice and Sing II (LEVAS), to music created by our music director. Music is provided by piano, our wonderful pipe organ, bells, and our adult and youth choirs. We hope for sermons to inspire us to become closer to Christ, a stronger church community and bring our faith into the greater community.
‘Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.’ Proverbs 22:6
Music is an integral part of our praise and worship here at St. Luke’s. Led by Kathye Flanagan, our Music Director, we have Adult and Junior Choirs at our 10 a.m. service.
If you’re thinking “I like to sing”, then there is a spot waiting for you at St. Luke’s. Our choir is complemented by Kathye on the piano or guitar or on special occasions by our wonderful organ played by Don Sukosky, or guest performances by our talented youth musicians, and stirring renditions by our joyful Bell Choir.
Welcoming…Flexible…Dedicated. The Bell Choir is a joyful, friendly, beautiful ministry. Using three sets of bells, Kathye Flanagan directs the Bell Choir, sometimes introducing hymns for the choir, sometimes opening a holiday service, and sometimes performing the hymn itself. The Bell Choir welcomes all ages, and all levels of music experience. Kathye really makes the music fun and beautiful. Practices are filled with laughter and music. Kathye is like a mad scientist, combining the bells in chords and leading us until we get the rhythm of the piece.
